Dauphin County, PA — Youth leaders and advocates gathered at the State Capitol on Tuesday, demanding action on youth justice in Pennsylvania.
Organizers say they called the press conference because of a lack of action by PA lawmakers.
The PA Juvenile Task Force offered recommendations such as strengthening due process and raising the minimum age a minor can be tried in juvenile court.
"We call on the PA Legislature to act now to pass all transformative legislation prioritizing the safety and well being of our youth over preserving the status quo. We demand care, and not control." said Justice Reform Speaker Zakiya Cherif.
