Getting Involved: For Young People
YASP was created by young people for young people and, as such, we rely on the power and input of young people in order to function, especially those that have been directly involved in the adult criminal justice system.
YASP always needs youth volunteers to help out at special events, door knocking, and with day-to-day responsibilities. We are looking for young people who are willing to learn, work, and engage with the mission of YASP.
Typical responsibilities of a volunteer include:
>"door-knocking": educating community members about Act 33, YASP, and the criminal justice system, and collecting signatures for our petition
> helping with outreach to community organizations
> Contacting legislators on behalf of YASP
> Managing the website and related social media
Youth volunteers can be as involved in YASP as he/she would like, whether it be helping with just a couple of door knocking campaigns or coming into the office multiple days a week.
